that's a long time
I was at IJ,
but it's just because I saw a movie
on the tellie tonight, that reminded me I
had some Danish friends stocked some wherr.

I was watching "Smilla sense of snow"
And after some time I thought I recognized some background
as being Copenhagen, if not I would have turned it off, because
it was not that great a movie.
It was indeed Copenhagen in the snow during Christmas.
Think there was even a shot at the same kay, my hotel was two years ago.

But it clearly was not a Danish director who had taken
this movie.
There were Christmas trees in almost every appartment,
but something was missing:

no Danebrog decorations
and after having seen TG's Christmas trees on the net a few times
I am convinced a Danish Christmastree without Danebrog deco is not a Danish Christmas tree.

Am I right?

You're alive! :-D

Almost right, but not quite :-) My tree never has Dannebrog and usually my parents' tree doesn't either.

When I was a child it was inconceivable to have a tree without flags, but not any more.

Btw. the director is, in fact, Danish. Bille August. He won an Oscar for Pelle the Conqueror back in the 80s. The book behind Smilla is Danish too, written by Peter Høeg. The film is shot at the places described in the book, so in that respect it's doing a nice job.

I think it was Bille August who directed it, and he's a Dane. The flags for Christmas threes are not all that common, especially not the recent decade. I'd personally not have them if I cared to have a Christmas tree at all.
