snapelike	4:28p	Announcement: The Large Cauldron Collider Ficlet Fest! (The World is Going Under Mix) This began as a joke, but since we're having fun with it, I'm hosting a ficlet fest in this journal... Why, oh, why? Now, as most of you know, the Large Hadron Collider is going to be turned on on the 10th September. As we prepare for apocalypse, I thought we should have a fest to celebrate that we don't have to worry about Christmas fic deadlines or somesuch things since the LHA might suck us all into a black hole (not very likely). While waiting for the black hole to appear, I challenge you all to get Severus laid. Not that it hasn't happened before, but if it's the last chance he gets, we better get to it. So here we go: Claim? Claim a character to pair Severus up with by commenting to this post. A character can be claimed only once! We need as many as possible to get their share of the man! Do get a bit inventive here, poor Sevvie should get some experience before it's too late! So let's try to pull out some of the unwanted, disliked characters too. And, yes, you can do cross-overs. And threesomes (but still only claim one character - you just add whomever you want on the side). If you have finished one claim (no, you still can't post it before the 10th) you may claim another. How long? Write minimum 100 words, and nothing longer than what can be put in a comment (appr. 4900 characters) - we have limited time before the world's going to... wherever it goes. If you insist on writing something longer, do it anyway. That's what rules are for, to be broken. [/Slytherin] No one will care when we sit in the black hole anyway. The entry must be at least R in rating. How to post? Post it in a comment in this journal the 10th September - I'll make a post for it. Or you can post it to your journal with a link in a comment to the fest post. No posting on the 9th, none on the 11th. 10th September, your time. A masterlist will go up on the 15th. Also, if you claim and don't deliver, there will be a Chart's chart of shame in which we will point fingers at you! Prompts: Prompts? Yeah, you can have those. Ask for them in your claim, and I'll come up with a kink, an item and some random quote. Prompts are probably going to be somewhat science/science fiction/cauldrons/astronomy-themed. Bonus to the one who manages to put a Cauldron Collider (cauldron, not hadron) and Stephen Hawking as a sooper hero in one of their ficlets. I mean, the man has his own sooper radiation power beam! Eat your heart out, Batman! Claims will be ETAed to this post under cut. If a character is claimed in comments he/she/it is taken, so check the comments before claiming. When you're done, read blpaintchart's "Shipping, Swimming and Suchlike" - because everybody needs to know that the proud ship Snucius is still sailing. With nekkid Remuses, a sloth and some piraty crack. OMG! Summary, or something in that direction: "Severus, I am observing a small, slow, bedraggled creature from, if I’m not mistaken, the Bradypodidae family. What, may I ask, are you observing?" "Ah. snapelike	4:56p	Fic: The Sleep of the Cicada (Akizuki/Kusaka; PG-13) Title: The Sleep of the Cicada Pairing: Akizuki Keiichirou/Kusaka Touma Universe: Fuyu no Semi - Winter Cicada Rating: PG-13 Warnings: The big canon character death in Fuyu? Purple prose spiced with a bit of pretentiousness? Word count: 1,500 Notes: Nitta-sensei hints in several (canon) places that Iwaki and Katou are indeed Akizuki and Kusaka reincarnated, hence the way they react when they try to get the roles of those two characters. I've played with the idea, but decided to stay in the Fuyu no Semi universe. This fic is partly inspired by Jonathan Steffen's poem "The Falcon to the Falconer" (1992) which is about love that binds, when one cannot let go for the sake of the beloved. Incidentally, falconry and the falcon were also symbols of the Samurai, and of the Edo period that ended with the Boshin war -- the war which is described in Fuyu no Semi and ends with Akizuki-san's defeat at Hakodate. Summary: "I believe that such a time will come... A time where we can always be together without fear of being caught... Until that time comes, you and I shall sleep the long sleep of the cicada." ariadneelda	7:18p	Fandom and RL stuff First, the RL stuff. 1. I'm going to Berlin! *so excited* September 2-10. A friend's going there on a business trip of sorts and taking me with her. We'll be staying at her friend's. I know some of my flist are from Germany - anyone living in Berlin? I'd love to meet you! :-) 2. Will also be away from tomorrow till next Thursday. Just going to an island very close to Athens (at a relative's) because I've only been to the beach once this summer, which is a shame if you happen to live in Greece. Yay, beach! Sea! On the downside, I won't have internet access there. Oh, well, I'll cope for a few days. Now the fandom stuff. 3. First year I didn't sign up for snarry_games. It makes me very sad, especially seeing all the people who have signed up. :( But I figured I wouldn't have enough time to draw something good enough for the Games. Still, I'm very excited about it and can't wait for all the new Snarry art! :D 4. I'm quite pleased with my hp_darkfest prompt. *evil grin* 5. The dilemma I had between signing up for snapelyholidays or smutty_claus? I'll probably pick the former, after all, since I can't do both. Smutty Claus scares me a bit, I admit. What if I get a request of pairings I'm not crazy about and I can't do something good? And let's face it, my tastes in het are not the most common out there. Still wavering, though. But I have till tomorrow afternoon to decide about Snapelyholidays. Or I could sign up when I get back next Thursday. Why am I the most indecisive person in the world? Argh. Also! kabal42	12:50a	New adventures in California What's happened since last? I've seen the Rifftrax for Chamber of Secrets and I highly recommend that! Very funny! *grins just thinking about it* Ah, good satire ftw. ( Yesterday we went to LA and had unexpected adventures ) Today is "do nothing" day while we recuperate. Tomorrow is going to be calm, too, other than preparing for the camping trip up to Lassen State Park. We're going up there Sunday and will be back Tuesday. Some of you will of course have seen that area, but we're talking an 80-mile stretch south from Santa Cruz. Past Carmel it really go beautiful! Wow! I hope my pictures turn out okay - if they do I'll be showing them later. kennahijja was right. (Eh, there was supposed to be a button here saying I donated 225 cups of water. Did I mention it's black? ;-) Downer, though: I, as a Dane, cannot use iTunes USA, meaning that I cannot buy the exclusive to iTunes Rufus Wainwright EP that I badly wanted. What the fuck??!?!? At least I got a couple of single songs I didn't have, meaning that digging up a lot of obscure albums is less acutely important. Man, I still need to write up more on Terminus, but I really can't put words to it. I'm made of fail. I hadn't drawn Snaco in ages anyway and I'd missed it! Title: Assuaging Fears and Lust Characters: Snape/Draco Rating: NC-17, NOT WORKSAFE Warnings: Rimming (implied mostly). And I imagined this to be during Draco's 7th year, so Draco is not of age quite yet, I think? kabal42	7:52a	Bugs Bunny is gay - and I'm in Santa Cruz I said goodbye to San Francisco today, far too early for my taste! verdenia and I had been exploring Haight-Ashbury and Castro and I had such a good time with that and with her and the others that I really didn't want to leave. I know I'll be coming back; SF only cemented itself as one of my favourite places by this visit. I feel so comfortable there. I also came away with a pair of fab boots and a t-shirt featuring X-ray Spex!!! :-D verdenia and boyfriend gave me a lift down to Santa Cruz, driving along the coast. It was foggy all the way down, but man, it's so beautiful! It's great to see C and A again. It almost feels like I was hear a few weeks ago or something, not like two years. We went out and got sandwiches and then watched Loony Tunes from Netflix. This disc was the one featuring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. This, of course, led to revelations. Not really multi-pairing, which would be my preference, but Snape/anyone (slash, het - also gen) sounds good enough for me! Plus, you know, SNAPE. And this might sound surprising since I've only ever drawn het once but - smutty_claus. Actually, I've been considering this one since last year when I really enjoyed watching the fest. I've already started filling in both sign up forms (no, the actual sign ups aren't starting yet for either fest) and it's fun and I would sooo love to do both. BUT. I realised that would be very, very unwise, what with my hp_darkfest deadline and daily_deviant in October, and there's work too, you know, RL job, and what if some other unpredictable RL crap comes up? Then I'll be screwed. So I'll have to do the wise thing and pick just one. But which? I'm so torn. Torn, I tell you! Anyone would like to say anything that might help me make up my mind? ;-) Also. ariadneelda	9:46a	Warner Bros, I hate you. You all know by now that the HBP release has been moved back to July 17, 2009, yeah? I'm so not happy about this. I don't really mind having to wait so long. Not much. What I mind is that I'll probably get to see HBP one or two months later than the rest of fandom because new films never come out in Greece mid-summer when everyone's away on some beach or other. Bugger. Last summer I was lucky enough to be in England when OotP came out. But I've no idea about next summer! Plus, I was really looking forward to it this November. :/ On a happier note, happy birthday, lilith_morgana!
